I participated in Cherry Creek High School’s student government all four years, which involved lots of campaigning. Oddly enough, it was the thought of being able to display posters that initially attracted me to running for my first position. Besides the involvement in the school and the opportunity to make my community better, I would use senate and these campaigns to creatively express myself on a more public scale. A campaign became, for me, an art gallery of wit and humor. I did not paint all of them myself, so I do not take credit for the artwork or graphic design. I am responsible for all the slogans.

Student Senate Campaign

Example biography sheet, which we had to pass around as part of our campaign:

Who is Esteban Fajardo?

Why, he happens to be the man standing in front of you, the one who just gave you this sheet of paper. Or rather, he is the boy who just gave you this sheet. How about we just call him a guy? Esteban is the guy who just gave you this sheet. The one who is waving as you look to him in a quarter of a second.

Now that we’ve come to terms on his placement in the room, you know what he looks like, and you’ve been able to finish thoroughly judging him, we can start asking ourselves, but who is he really? Do I share anything in common with Esteban? Does he prefer slow dances or fast ones? Was that a flirtatious wave this paper was just referencing in the last paragraph? Will he tell me his work out secrets?

There is no answer to any of these questions about Esteban, because he is a man of mystery.

How is his name supposed to be pronounced?? Mystery!!

Is he fit for leading Student Senate??? Mystery!!!

What does Student Senate even do?!? MYSTERY!!!!

Everything Esteban does get coated in mystery, covering things and obscuring their meaning like a poorly constructed simile. But then how can we be sure he’s right for the job? Will he lead us to glory or ruin? Esteban cannot give you these answers, but he can tell you he’s right for the job.

But how? How we trust a man/boy/guy who cannot even accurately pronounce his name? The answer is that you can’t, Esteban is just too mysterious. But that is why you need to vote for him.

You see, mystery, hidden pasts, secrets not being shared, politics, they all point to one thing...

Scandal!

Need I say more?

At this point, Esteban would like to clarify that in no way or form did someone who has never met Esteban write this paper. He wrote the paper all by himself just like was required in the Senate Election Handout. He is a hard worker who does work when people tell him to and in no way would he or did he just pay off someone to write this for him. And all references made to him in the third person are merely a coincidence.
